BELL COUNTY (March 30, 2009)--Investigators Monday tentatively identified the woman whose body was found in a burned-out house several days after the fire that destroyed the home at 263 Rocky Road south of Killeen as Tabitha Lynn Crawford, 23.

DNA samples obtained from the body and from Crawford’s mother were compared to make the identification, which authorities said was tentative, pending confirmation by the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.

State records show Crawford pleaded guilty in August in Bell County Court at Law No. 2 to a misdemeanor prostitution charge; no contest in September to a misdemeanor criminal mischief charge, and guilty in October to a misdemeanor prostitution charge.

In each case, she was arrested in Killeen.

Insurance investigators looking into the cause of the fire that destroyed the house discovered the woman’s body on March 16, a week after the fire broke out.

They called the Bell County Sheriff’s Office.

The fire, which one official described as suspicious, broke out on the afternoon of March 9 and also destroyed a pickup in the driveway of the home.

Authorities said Crawford had no ties to the property or to the owner of the house.

anyone know who her husband was or have a picture of "Michael"? where is the little boy? Anyone know his age or have a picture? just want to make sure this Michael is not a relative who has custody of a small child. this person should not be raising a child. Thanks

Well, I shouldn't say anything about Michael, he was good to her at times I know but they just didn't work I guess. I guess I'm trying to say she deserved at least a happy relationship. I just wish people would not put her down when I know she deserves none of it. Knowing someone can be this harsh saddens me.

I'd just like to say... How dare someone put down my cousin? Yes, Tabitha is my cousin, the amazing girl I looked up to as my older sister, my role model. Who cares what she did? You know why she did any of it? To be loved, wanted and accepted. She was always mistreated and had her life stolen from her figuratively and now, literally, she had her life taken. I love her with all my heart and she never deserved this. She especially didn't deserve to have her baby taken from her and didn't deserve a guy like Michael. Some good did come out of this though, she no longer has to suffer and deal with people, such as the ones who trashed her, and no longer has to feel lonely. She was, is and ALWAYS will be my big sissy. May my big sis, Tabitha, rest peacefully in God's arms. I love you, Tab! Remember, you no longer have to shed any tears.
