FORT WORTH (April 4, 2009)--An arrest-warrant affidavit says a driver charged with capital murder in a fatal collision with North Texas police officer's car admitted hitting the car deliberately.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that the affidavit, which was signed by a Wise County sheriff's deputy, says Stephen Blake York told investigators "that he intentionally turned his vehicle to ram the vehicle to kill the officer."

Bridgeport police Sgt. Randy White died in his parked patrol car when the stolen sport utility vehicle York was driving slammed into it on Texas 114.

York, 43, remains in stable condition under guard at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, officials said.

White, 32, had been with the Bridgeport police force for 4½ years.

The married father of a 5-year-old daughter was the first officer killed in the line of duty in the history of Bridgeport's police force.
