HOUSTON (April 15, 2009)—A man whom police were chasing on foot Wednesday in Houston died after a patrol car ran over him.
The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in a northwest Houston residential area just off T.C. Jester Boulevard and just north of West Little York Road.
Police Sgt. Rick Moreno said the man appeared to be under the influence of a drug and fled when he saw a police officer, who then chased him on foot.
Moreno said the officer in the patrol car meant to head the man off, but the man made an unexpected move and was run over and pinned.
A tow truck had to be brought in to free his body.
Moreno said police don't know why the man fled.

Why would anyone "play around" with the police like that? I suppose that, for extra "fun" you call 9-1-1 and pretend to be ordering a pizza? You are an idiot.
The article doesn't say the officer attempted to stop him or talk to him; it says he ran the other way when he saw an officer. So what, maybe he had to take a dump. Maybe it had nothing to do with the officer at all. We'll never know. I know a lot of good cops, and then I know a lot of a**holes with a badge too. "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin, Historical Review of Pennsylvania, 1759
