HOUSTON (April 21, 2009)--Searchers Tuesday found the body of a 4-year-old Texas girl who drowned along with four other children when a car driven by a man who’s now charged with intoxication manslaughter plunged into a rain-swollen ditch in Houston.
The body was found early Tuesday afternoon along Greens Bayou.
The body has not been formally identified, but police said it appeared to be Hallie Jenkins.
The bodies of the other children have been recovered.
The girl’s father, Chanton B. Jenkins, was charged Sunday with four counts of intoxication manslaughter.
Investigators say Jenkins was talking on his cell phone when he lost control of his car.
None of the children was wearing seat belts.
Jenkins, another adult passenger and a 10-year-old child survived the crash.
The Houston Chronicle reported that a prosecutor said Jenkins' two breath tests registered blood alcohol levels of 0.079 percent and 0.082 percent.
The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
Officials said Jenkins was legally drunk 2 1/2 hours after the car plunged into the ditch at Green Bayou Saturday.

Also, why weren't the kids wearing seatbelts! Although this is not what killed them, but, isn't it the law to seatbelt children! Be the adult, people, or don't have kids!
Driving drunk is like playing Russian Roulette with a loaded gun. Death or disability is a likely outcome. How tragic that this slimeball took the lives of five children, because he felt the need to get tanked up before getting behind the wheel. Five little children, dead and gone. Rest in peace.
This guy will pay his debt to society with his life or a big portion of it. Having killed children by any method, he will be a target in prison. If he ever gets out, he'll still have the nightmares. God bless the kids.
