NACOGDOCHES (April 28, 2009)--An East Texas man admits in an interview that he killed his estranged wife.
KTRE-TV in Lufkin and Nacogdoches reports that Kyle Barnhill made the admission in a telephone interview that he requested.
However, he says he wasn't in his right mind then and still isn't now.
Barnhill, 40, of San Augustine, remains in the Nacogdoches County Jail in lieu of bond set at $2 million.
Barnhill is charged in the death last month of Melissa Kesinger Barnhill, 38.
Police say the Barnhills had separated and were divorcing when the woman was fatally shot through a kitchen window of her Nacogdoches home March 11.
Kyle Barnhill was arrested March 16 in the Eagle Pass area, about 500 miles from Nacogdoches, and returned to East Texas.

Scum! Did he think killing his wife would make everything okay again? What about his kids, now deprived of both parents? Did he not love them at all?
I think these people that use the statement they aren't in their right mind, are coping out, hoping to persuade the jury to spare them, They should just be given a life sentence or death sentence depending on the crime automatically...I know their are mental cases, but I think most of these cases when the defendant pleas not in his or her right mind wants mercy from the jury, they should have justice.....
I HAVE to start reading slower. I would have sworn that headline said that guy cooked his wife...
