(October 12, 2006)—Eight-year-old Bindi Irwin received a standing ovation at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in Sydney, Australia on Wednesday as she stood in for her late father the Crocodile Hunter at the ceremony.

Wearing her father's trademark khaki shorts and shirt, and with her hair crimped, it was wild reception for the tiny wildlife warrior who bravely stepped in for her late father Steve, scheduled to deliver the award, prior to his death.

Just one month after a stingray killed Irwin, it was Bindi's second public appearance since she spoke at her dad's memorial service Sept. 20.

Bindi, now a star in her own right and host of her own TV show, presented the award of the night, favorite Australian Star, to singer Guy Sebastian.
