(October 16, 2006)--Saturday's brawl between the University of Miami and Florida International has led to the suspensions of 31 players.
Officials from both schools announced the decision Sunday night after reviewing tape of the melee, which occurred in the third quarter of the Hurricanes' 35-0 shutout.
The suspensions include 13 members of the Hurricanes and 18 from FIU.
Each suspended player must sit out his team's next game for taking part in the ugliness that marred a match-up of neighboring schools.
Hurricanes coach Larry Coker already had suspended Anthony Reddick, Brandon Meriweather and H-back James Bryant before the ACC announced its decision to suspend a total of 13 Miami players.
It was unknown how long any of the suspensions will last.
Coker called the incident "disgraceful," and officials from both schools say more sanctions are possible.
