GATESVILLE (May 4, 2009)—A teenager suspected of causing about $10,000 in damage at Gatesville Junior High School was found Sunday sleeping in a concession stand at the school’s baseball complex, police said Monday.

The vandalism was reported Sunday.

Police said someone broke in to the building and damaged or broke windows, doors, lights and security cameras with what evidently was a blunt object.

A school representative told officers that after discovering the damage, he walked to the baseball complex behind the school building and found that someone had broken into the concession stand as well.

Inside he found a 16-year-old boy sleeping, with several items belonging to the school in his possession, police said.

The teenager may also have been involved in the theft of a pickup truck early Sunday morning in the 3400 block of Jewel Drive, police said.

The truck was later found in a field off South Highway 36.

The teenager was charged with two counts of burglary of a building, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and criminal mischief over $1,500, under $20,000.

He was taken to a juvenile detention facility in Limestone County, police said.

Two other juveniles may have been involved in the vandalism, police said, but to what extent investigators don’t yet know.

"Yep", are you serious? Providing help is exactly why this sort of thing happens, what this kid needs is teaching. How to teach that lesson is up to debate but don't tell a kid its not their fault and it is ok to make a mistake and call it "help". Teach the young that there are consequences and they will be punish for breaking the rules no matter what the "behind the scenes" story is. He knew he was doing wrong and if he didn't, all the more reason to punish him so he will know that such behavior is wrong.
