WACO (May 5, 2009)-A Waco man was in the McLennan County Jail Tuesday after he led Beverly Hills and Waco police on an extended high-speed chase.
Bradley Santana Monrial, 21, was arrested at Highway 6 and Fish Pond Road, in Waco, after the car he was driving spun out of control, ending the chase.
A 16-year-old juvenile who was also in the car was detained, but was later released to his parents.
Bond for Monrial had not been set as off mid-afternoon Tuesday.
The chase started after Beverly Hills Police were dispatched at around 7 a.m. Tuesday to the 1300 block of South 30th Street where a resident reported that two men in a white Ford Crown Victoria were driving through the neighborhood firing a weapon.
As the officer arrived the resident who reported the gunfire pointed out the white car and officers attempted to stop the driver.
Instead, the man headed toward South Valley Mills Drive where the car struck a telephone pole as he turned onto the busy street.
Beverly Hills officers chased him to Valley Mills and Cobbs, where the car struck a brick sign in front of the Church of the Nazarene.
The fleeing driver turned onto Cobbs and continued to Fish Pond Road.
There he turned westbound toward State Highway 6.
Beverly Hills Police Chief Debra Bruce told News 10 the car then began to spin out and the officer following him "assisted in the spin and pushed him into a ditch."
No one was hurt, but the police officer’s patrol car has significant damage, Bruce said.
The chief did not know if a weapon was recovered.
