GATESVILLE (May 5, 2009)-A husband and wife led Coryell County deputies on a high-speed chase from Gatesville through Mound on Tuesday but eventually were arrested without incident.

Shane Sutton and Kristine Sutton were in the Coryell County Jail Tuesday afternoon, charged with evading arrest.

Shane Sutton also was held on a felony warrant not associated with the chase.

Coryell County Sheriff's Deputy Ricky Helms told News 10 the chase began at State Highway 36 and Business Highway 36 at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday after Deputy Armando Paniagua attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation.

Paniagua noted the driver was Shane Sutton, wanted on a felony non-support warrant out of Gatesville.

Paniagua chased the couple’s vehicle south on Highway 36 to Farm-to-Market Road 107 where the chase turned east toward Moody and then onto County Road 318 southbound toward Mound.

In Mound, Helms said, the vehicle bounded over Farm-to-Market 1829 and ended up in the front yard of the Mound Fire Department.

The two occupants fled on foot but were captured by pursuing officers within a short distance.

Both were in the Coryell County Jail Tuesday afternoon but had not been formally booked as of 3 p.m.

A supervisor at the jail said both would be arraigned on Wednesday morning and bonds would be set at that time.

No one was injured in the crash.

What happened here is nothing new, duh. We know that. I just don't understand why parents continue to cushion their kids who really need to fall and land on their behinds. The only thing positive I can think of, is one day, your mommy and/or daddy won't be around to bail your sorry behinds out of the jail. So many of us will be laughing then, yet wondering about the next round of idiots running "scott free" because we know, too, is a viscious circle, and as well, how could you continue to protect and cushion criminals? Do you not have more respect and concern for your children's lives? For every drug related person, act, etc, consider your CHILD in essence is committing murder. Drug enforcement officers are paying for your ignorance with their lives. This does not mean I think Shane or Christy have anything to do with drugs. It is meant more general. Bonnie and Clyde they ain't!

This kind of thing is not new to this town. There has always been the lower class scum here. However, this is still a nice place to live. I have been here for 20 plus yrs and in a smaller community close by for more than that. We have our problems but on the whole not as much as other places. My family and I think it's a good place to be. The rest of ya'll can love or leave it or just shut up!
