(October 23, 2006)-- Staff Sgt. Jesus M. Montalvo, 46, of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, died Oct. 18 in Baghdad from injuries he suffered in a small arms attack during combat operations, the military said Monday.

Montalvo was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division’s 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade.

At least 85 US troops have died in Iraq so far this month, which puts October on pace to be the deadliest month in two years.
