(October 30, 2006)--California firefighters say they have lines around 90 percent of the huge arson fire east of Los Angeles and are confident it will be fully contained within hours.
A state forestry spokesman says, "The weather has shifted in a very, very favorable way." Winds have died down and the temperatures have fallen.
The fire that was deliberately set early Thursday has blackened about 63 square miles.
Four firefighters were killed when the flames overtook them, and a fifth remains in critical condition with burns over most of his body.
Dozens of Pablo Cerda's relatives have been at the hospital, praying for him.
The Riverside County Sheriff's office has received more than 225 tips on the arson investigation.
Rewards totaling $500,000 are offered for information leading to arrests and convictions.
