PORT O'CONNOR (May 19, 2009)--The U.S. Coast Guard suspended its search Tuesday for a 38-year-old Splendora-area man who was reported missing after his 19-foot fishing boat capsized off the Texas coast on Sunday.

Offshore oilrig workers pulled the man’s two teenage children from the Gulf of Mexico around 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

The Coast Guard searched by sea and air for 47 hours before suspending the search Tuesday.

The children, ages 13 and 17, were hoisted onto the rig around 10:30 p.m. Sunday about 17 miles southeast of Port O'Connor.

Workers said they also lowered a life-ring for the children's father, but he had drifted out of sight.

The search began Sunday night when the children's mother notified authorities that her family was overdue to return from a fishing trip.
