(November 3, 2006)—Former Oklahoma State basketball coach Eddie Sutton is hospitalized after being found unresponsive in his car outside a Stillwater convenience store.

OSU spokeswoman Sheila Dohmann says Sutton is at Stillwater Medical Center and is alive and alert.

Police say the convenience store clerk called an ambulance about 9:30 this morning and Sutton was "mostly unresponsive" but was able to communicate a little with emergency personnel.

His condition was not immediately available.

A hospital director of public relations issued a statement saying "a possible reaction to new medication prescribed by his physician may be the cause of this incident." The statement said a doctor determined Sutton was not under the influence of alcohol.
