GROESBECK (May 21, 2009)--Bryan Scott Jenkins, 26, of Thornton, died in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday afternoon near Groesbeck.

A second driver, Hermann Allemand, 66, of Buffalo, was injured but not seriously, according to a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety Office in Groesbeck.

Both Jenkins and Allemand were eastbound on State Highway 164 at about 4:30 p.m., one following the other.

Troopers say Jenkins pulled off the roadway and stopped on the shoulder.

Allemand told investigators he slowed down and moved toward the center of the road and started to pass Jenkin's car.

As Allemand passed, Jenkins attempted a U-turn and the two vehicles collided.

Allemand applied his brakes and attempted to avoid the crash, but his vehicle struck Jenkins’ car on the driver's side door.

Limestone County Justice of the Peace Frieda Gremminger pronounced Jenkins dead at the scene.

The judge did not order an autopsy but did order blood drawn for toxicology tests.

Jenkins body was taken to Groesbeck Funeral Home where arrangements are pending.
