HILL COUNTY (May 26, 2009)—Hill County authorities Tuesday identified the victim of a Memorial Day weekend drowning at Lake Whitney as William Youngblood, 64, of Italy, Texas.

The drowning was reported at about 4:40 p.m. Sunday.

Hill County sheriff's deputies, the Lake Whitney Volunteer Fire Department, state game wardens and the Lake Whitney Rescue Association responded to the call.

Divers focused their search on a cove near Cedar Creek Park and found Youngblood’s body at about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses said Youngblood was walking in shallow water when he evidently stepped into deeper water and went under.
