(May 31, 2009)—A fire overnight that broke out in a house at 106 Ave. A in Moody displaced two residents.

Moody Fire Chief Mike Alton said the residents had just moved in and neither the electricity nor the water had been turned on.

Alton said one man was home at the time of the fire.

He said the resident, whom he didn’t identify, heard a noise in a back room and when he went to investigate discovered a fire burning on the floor.

Alton said the resident attempted to turn on the water at the meter, but said he was unable to put out the fire.

Neighbors saw the flames and called 911, Alton said.

The house was engulfed in flames when the first units arrived, Alton said.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
