TEMPLE (June 1, 2009)—A female clerk required hospital treatment for minor injuries after the late-night robbery Sunday of the Walgreens drug store at 3614 S. 31st St. in Temple.

The robber was reported just before midnight Sunday.

The clerk, whose name was not released, told officers a man approached the front counter of the store, then suddenly jumped over it and grabbed several cartons of cigarettes.

She told officers a struggle ensued as she tried unsuccessfully to stop him.

She suffered what police said were minor injuries to her arm and torso.

She was taken to Scott & White Hospital where she was treated and then released.

Police were looking Monday for the robber, whom they described as a black male, about 40, standing 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11, and weighing 140-170 pounds.

He was wearing a long sleeve white shirt with stripes, black workout pants with twin white stripes running up the legs, and black shoes, police said.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500.

When I worked retail, we were told to let the robber have whatever he wanted, and never to fight him. I'm glad this clerk wasn't hurt seriously.
