WACO (June 1, 2009)—Former Brazos Middle School teacher Tara Hodges pleaded guilty Monday to 10 counts of sexual assault of a child in connection with incidents involving a 14-year-old male student.
Hodges asked 19th State District Judge Ralph Strother for probation, but prosecutors are asking that she be sentenced to 10 years in prison.
Strother ordered a presentence investigation and said Hodges will be sentenced sometime this summer.
Hodges, 27, was named in a 10-count indictment in November after she was arrested and charged in August.
The investigation into the alleged relationship started after the teacher filed a false report of a sexual assault, authorities said.
According to the affidavit issued in August for Hodges’ arrest, the relationship started on June 6, 2008.
The affidavit says Hodges picked the student up in her car that evening and drove him to her apartment where the two smoked marijuana.
After that, the affidavit says Hodges performed oral sex on the student before having sex with him.
The two had sex at least ten separate times, and on several of those occasions, they smoked marijuana, the affidavit said.
Investigators said the student was given money and on two occasions, shoes were purchased for him.
Hodges was released after posting $300,000 bond in August.

Tara and I went to School together all through Middle and High School. I never really liked her. She was stuck-up, air-headed and not all there in the head. she tried too hard to fit in and cared way too much what other people thought of her. Doesn't surprise me that she sexually assaulted a minor. I have to say though, some 14 yr old boys are already quite experienced and are even sometimes the aggressor in these situations. Some of them know what they are doing. Tara was just the kind of person that would fall for that kind of situation and be persuaded into a relationship like this. Its sad to know that she never really grew up...I think she entered into this relationship looking for comfort or to feel that she was needed/liked? Also not surprised about the drug charges - if you knew Tara. But a lot of kids experiment with drugs. I do feel for her family - they are extremely nice (sane) people and will reap the consequences of this. Ironic, her mother was the HS Counselor tho.
Now a days these young boys know what they can get by with. I think that is sad! Even though he was 14 and skum he knew he was protected by the law. Many kids need better decipline at home and we would not have this problem. Sometimes the law protects little morons like these. Don't tell me he did not know what he was doing!
If you only knew this boy he acts like his 40,likes older women, he's the one that sell the drugs and he's always high on something,so big deal get over it!!if you don't know for a fact, don't speak!!!Don't judge if you don't know what really happen.
