Obama Nominates New Fort Hood Commander
President Barack Obama has nominated Maj. Gen. Robert W. Cone for promotion and assignment as Fort Hood’s next commanding general, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced Friday.

WASHINGTON (June 5, 2009)--President Barack Obama has nominated Maj. Gen. Robert W. Cone for promotion to lieutenant general and assignment as commander of III Corps and Fort Hood, Defense Secretary Robert Gates announced Friday.
Cone is now serving as special assistant to the commanding general at the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command at Fort Monroe, Va.
Previously he commanded the Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan.
His previous assignments include stints at Fort Hood as the 4th Infantry Division’s operations officer and as commander of the 4th Infantry Division’s 2nd Brigade.
He’s a West Point graduate and has a Master of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Rhode Island.
He will succeed Lt. Gen. Rick Lynch, who was nominated in May 2008 to command Fort Hood and III Corps’ 40,000 troops.
Lynch succeeded Lt.. Gen. Raymond Odierno.

A little consistency...there should be plenty of consistency in the Army. Uniforms, same food, everything looks the same and the routine is very consistent. Army Wife I am just kidding with you...could not resist. I agree with you, it is hard always changing out leaders, whether in the military or in civilian life.

I'm glad see that the current Commander is replaced. Ft.Hood's new policy of letting single women live and stay in the Barracks is unacceptable. Of Course you will never hear about this in the Liberal Press. Yes it is TRUE. When I was in the Military this situation would be unheard of. Single women living in the Barrack at Ft. Hood is just another reason why our Government has wussified the Military. If you want to report news then do an investigation into what I'm talking about. I got my bloodwings at Ft Benning in 1981 and bloodwings are illegal now. Another wimpification of our truly great Military. Go check out FT Hood barracks and tell me if this current Army under Obama control is the kind of Military we want protecting our country. No control in the Barracks, No control period and the Leaving Commander did nothing about it.
