WACO (June 5, 2009)—Waco police made quick arrests Friday in a home break-in after a witness to the burglary provided officers with a description of the vehicle in which the burglars escaped.

The witness told officers two men broke into a home in the 900 block of North 31st Street at around 9:30 a.m. Friday and then drove off in a champagne-colored Ford Crown Victoria with temporary license plates.

A patrol officer spotted the vehicle a short time later in a parking lot near 1427 N. 9th St.

Three men got out and entered an apartment.

Two of the men, Richard Melendez, 23, and Fernando Valdez, 28, were arrested.
Officers impounded the Ford.
No stolen property has yet been recovered, police said Friday afternoon
