BELTON (June 6, 2009)--A new Gault Site exhibit opens Saturday at the Bell County Museum in Belton.

The Gault Site is nationally recognized in Smithsonian and National Geographic magazines for its wealth of historic artifacts.

Archaeologists are still finding clues to the human past at the site in Florence.

Artifacts displayed in the museum date back 14,000 years.

Bell County Museum director, Stephanie Turnham says she hopes the exhibit Belton will serve as a gateway to the historic site.

The doors open to the public at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Dr. Michael Collins, the principal investigator at the Gault Site, will speak at 2:30 p.m.

The museum's archaeology pits will be open for children.
