(June 8, 2009) - Investigators are looking to make more arrests in a statewide burglary ring that targeted several Central Texans.
Stephen Chaney and his family were some of those burglary victims.
In January, two of their four-wheelers worth more than $10,000 were stolen from their garage.
But, the burglars left something behind - trash including personal information and phone numbers.
That information lead the Lampasas County Sheriff's Office to three arrests in Central Texas and a break in the burglar ring investigation.
"I guess they were clearing out a van to put our four wheelers in there," said Chaney.
Investigator John Seery of the Lampasas County Sheriff's Office said hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property including four-wheelers, welding equipment and lawn mowers were stolen and sold in flea markets.
While some of that property has been recovered, Seery said most of it won't be found until law enforcement happens to find the property while issuing citations or warrants.
Chaney's property is still missing. He says he has looked on Craig's list for the items but to no avail. Meanwhile, he is having to still make payments on one of the four-wheelers that was stolen.
If you have information about these crimes, call Lampasas Sheriff's Office at (512) 556-8255.
