WACO (June 11, 2009)—Waco police released video Thursday that shows a strong-arm robbery in the parking lot of the Lake Air Towers apartment building in which an 85-year-old woman was injured.
Police are hoping someone will recognize the robber.
The robbery was reported at around 8:40 p.m. Monday.
The victim and her husband, whose names were not released, told officers they had parked their car and were walking up the steps to enter the building at 4924 Cobbs Dr. when a man who had been hiding behind a brick wall ran up and grabbed the elderly woman’s purse.
The man pulled so hard, it caused the woman to fall to the ground.
The video shows the woman tumbling onto a concrete landing and almost down several steps.
She suffered minor injuries to her right side.
The robber was black, in his 20s and was wearing a striped polo shirt, calf-length blue jeans, black and white tennis shoes and a dark cap.
The couple last saw him as he ran toward Lake Highlands and got into a large dark blue car, police said.
The woman was treated at Providence Healthcare Center and was later released.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to call either the Waco Police Department at (254) 750-7500 or Waco Crime Stoppers at (254) 753-HELP.
