MUSKOGEE COUNTY, Okla. (June 17, 2009)--A 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman from Muskogee County, Okla. were charged with animal cruelty after a 7-week old puppy was killed and then skinned so the hide could be used to make a belt.
The dog was shot as many as 10 times with a .22 and then the puppy’s body was taken to an apartment where it was skinned, Muskogee County Deputy George Roberson said.
The plan, Roberson said, was to make a belt out of the dog’s hide.
“This is the worst case of animal cruelty that I have investigated,” he told KOTV.
Deputies arrested Austin Mullins 26, and Krystal Lewis, 23, later turned herself in.
Both were charged with animal cruelty.
