(December 6, 2006)--An 81-year-old Kerrville woman is charged with trying to extort $2 million from Hall of Fame quarterback Bart Starr. Authorities say Ruby Y. Young this fall mailed a typed, computer-generated letter to Starr alleging an encounter with him in 1960. Starr, who was MVP of the first two Super Bowls while playing for Green Bay, denies knowing the woman. The criminal complaint was filed in Birmingham, Ala. Prosecutors told the San Antonio Express-News that the woman, whom they accuse of writing two more letters to Starr, claims the pair had a romantic relationship. No money was paid to Young. Postal service investigators obtained a copy of the first letter from Starr, who's 72. Young was released on bond after a court hearing in San Antonio. Young told a federal magistrate that she understands the charges and they're not true. More News >>Sports >> Weather >>
