LA PALOMA (June 20 2009)--The U.S. Border Patrol says two agents were shot at while rounding up a group of suspected illegal immigrants.

Border Patrol spokesman John Lopez said the agents were arresting eight people near Brownsville earlier this week when two shots were fired.

No one was injured.

Lopez said the agents found five more suspected illegal immigrants, and more than 60 pounds of marijuana along the Rio Grande, while searching for the shooters.

Lopez said in Saturday's Valley Morning Star that the agents suspect the shooters swam to Mexico.

second posting. Media have not been reporting the frequency of attacks and outright ambushes our Border Patrol have to deal with on a more than daily basis. I lived in the Valley, I worked with these folks and their spouses. These are not isolated incidents!!! When are we going to protect our own???
