WACO (June 24, 2009)--Texas Department of Public Safety narcotics officers, Drug Enforcement Administration agents and local officers busted a multi-county marijuana trafficking operation Wednesday in Central Texas.

Authorities served four search warrants and seized about 200 marijuana plants, valued at $4,000 apiece, at rural locations in Bosque County off County Road 3660 and in Hamilton County near Hico.

They also recovered smaller amounts of marijuana from homes on Lockwood Drive and Huaco Lane in Waco.

Ten weapons were also recovered at the various locations.

Charles Husbands, 67, of Bosque County and Jefferson Davis Ward, 62, of Waco were held Wednesday evening at the McLennan County Jail on federal charges of cultivation of marijuana with intent to distribute.

To G Location...."200 plants" for "personal use"? Holy COW! That's a lot of smokin'. Hope they don't drive anything more than a walker! They would have been better off to grow smaller amounts for their "personal use". Probably wouldn't have caused such a problem. Maybe a plant or two would suffice. But then there's that pesky identity theft one of these dear old men was involved in. Poor little senior citizens. All they wanted to do was smoke their dope while using someone elses identity. What's the problem?

Big bust, 200 plants, right! So this is our tax dollars at work. OLD MEN who like to smoke marijuana for personal use. How much of our tax money have we spent on this 5 month "sting," 2 million - 5 million - 10 million - 30 million by the time we have a trial, court appointed attorneys, and medical attention for old men in jail. Great Job Feds! NOT. Destroy the plants, fine the men, give them community service and move on. This is not a big bust, just a slow news day and our government wasting our tax dollars. Go take care of our borders and stop the crack, cocaine, and heroin.

Legalize it don't legalize it...I don't use it so I don't care. But remember, these little old men were selling it to your children. Nice guys. And I know one of them...this is how he's always made his living. It's the chance they took...so now they're busted. Most senior citizens in need of extra cash can find legitmate employment. Wal-Mart greeters? Oh..the pay isn't as good and they actually have to work. I think they could have found a better way to make a few bucks. Like it or not...it is illegal and I'm sure they were aware of that fact.
