COLLEGE STATION (June 25, 2009)--A mutilated kitten has undergone surgery in College Station to remove its rear leg after two boys twisted off part of it in an alleged attack.

Staffers at Aggieland Animal Health Center & Pet Resort say the 3-month-old kitten, nicknamed Emma, is available for adoption.

The Bryan-College Station Eagle reported that veterinarians did the surgery on Wednesday.

Center spokeswoman Gwendolyn Inocencio says the kitten was dropped off June 13 by a couple who say they rescued the cat from two 10-year-old boys at a trailer park in Hearne.

Inocencio says the animal's leg was twisted off below the knee and it was amazing that the cat survived.

The center filed an animal abuse and neglect report with Hearne police.

Please don't make a habit of always blaming parents..yes there are som HORRIBLE parents out there, but there are some GREAT parents out there as well whose kids are just evil, for whatever reason and a lot of time parents hands are tied when it comes to disciplining a child. Anytime you punish your child with means other than a time out (which doesn't work) you're accused of abusing them or hurting their feelings, and that's when you end up with a bunch of sociopaths on your hands and these kids know that the parents can't discipline them and they start to take advantage of it and the system. I don't condone abuse but kids need discipline and other than time outs or "you sit and think about what you did" hell they know what they did, that's why they did it. But anyway yes the kids should receive some type of punishment for this behavior as it will lead to other crimes if unchecked.

i hope that the children get some type of punishment and that the parents are held responsible for it too. if they can do that to a deffenseless kitten, just think of what they can do to people. that could of been somebodys child in the place of that cat. how are these kids being raised anymore that they have no respect for life?

I hope those kids and their parents get full repremand for the torturing of that kitten. This is sick behavior. Now why wasn't the kitten put to sleep instead of being further traumatized by the vets experiment ordeal and recovery pain? That would seem to have been the most humane thing to do. Just as abusive is allowing cats and dogs to breed. Estimated 6-8 milllion wind up entering animal shelters where an estimated 3-4 million are euthanized annually.
