WACO (June 29, 2009)—Emily Ann Stuller, 21, a Baylor University senior from Dallas, died Monday morning when her 2004 VW Jetta crossed into oncoming traffic in the 3800 block of North Martin Luther King Boulevard and struck two pickup trucks, the second one head-on.

It happened just before 8 a.m. Monday on the Brazos River Bridge, police said.

Stuller was northbound on MLK when her car veered across the centerline and into the path of a pickup truck driven by Cirilo Zamarripa, 43, of Waco.

Zamarripa pulled as far to the right as he could in an attempt to avoid a collision, police said.

The Volkswagen struck the left side of his truck and continued northbound in the southbound lane where it struck a 2006 Toyota Tundra driven by Juan Lopez, 31, of Waco, police said.

The VW and the Tundra collided head-on, police said, and both vehicles were heavily damaged.

McLennan County Justice of the Peace Kristi DeCluitt pronounced Stuller dead at the scene.

Lopez was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center with leg and back injuries.

Zamarripa did not require medical treatment.

Stuller was a mathematics education major and a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.

Cleary JD's comment must have been removed! It must have been pretty bad for KWTX to actually remove it. Shame on you, JD!

Why, at the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, do we feel the need to refer to this student as a coed? She was a student. This is an outdated term and doesn't belong here.
