Severe Storm Leaves Damage Behind
A powerful thunderstorm packing 60-mile-an-hour winds downed trees limbs, power lines and damaged a school Monday in Crawford west of Waco.

CRAWFORD (June 29, 2009)—A powerful thunderstorm that was producing heavy rain and winds of as much as 60-miles-an-hour downed trees, power lines and damaged a school building Monday in Crawford.
The wind swapped 12- to 14-inch diameter tree limbs.
As much as two or three inches of rain was reported in some areas.
There were also reports of 1-inch to 1-and-a-half inch hail in the area.
The storms left about 2,600 homes and businesses in Hewitt, Woodway and South Waco without power.
Crews were working to restore service late Monday afternoon.
Minor street flooding was widespread.
Police in Hewitt and Waco were responding to several accidents that may be weather-related.
Wind ripped off a parking canopy at the Saddlebrook Apartments at 9000 Chapel Rd.
An apartment window was knocked out and there was some water damage to the apartment.
The residents weren’t home at the time.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were in effect for parts of McLennan, Coryell and Bosque Counties Monday afternoon as the storms rumbled in, producing the first rainfall in the area since late May.
