SEALY (July 2, 2009)--A Southeast Texas man and his wife were in jail Thursday after a state inspector found six children locked in tool shed behind an unlicensed daycare center.
State officials say the children were surrounded by lawn equipment, gasoline and insecticide when they were found Wednesday.
Austin County District Attorney Travis Koehn says Marietta Patek, 55, is charged with six counts of child endangerment, while her husband, Freddie Patek, 47, faces an evidence tampering charged.
Child Protective Services spokeswoman Gwen Carter says 14 children ranging from toddlers to preteens were kept at the house.
She says the Pateks could legally care only for three children at a time.

anon....You are right....it is because we have a pres like obama that no one is accountable for anything.
In 100 degree weather any inclosed space can reach 120 degrees within 15 minutes. These people put those children's lives in danger every day not just when they closed them up in a shed. I am a working mother who worries constantly when I have to leave my child with people I know...much less ones I don't. We have an obligation as a community to protect our children. We have to start reporting what we see and suspect and maybe there will be less of these headlines.
What kind of parent would leave their kids with someone like that?
