WACO (July 3, 2009)--Police are hoping a van recovered Friday morning will provide some leads in the search for two men responsible for the gunpoint holdup of a Waco business owner who was robbed just as he arrived at his store after making a large bank withdrawal.

The owner of Chapman’s at 801 E. Waco Dr. was robbed at around 9:40 a.m. Friday just as he drove into the parking lot of his business.

A white Plymouth van pulled in behind him and two men got out, police said.

The men, who were black and had T-shirts pulled over their faces, opened the driver’s side door of the victim’s vehicle, pulled out a gun, pointed it at his forehead and demanded money, police said.

The escaped with what police said was a large amount of cash.

The two men were last seen driving east on Waco Drive.

Officers later found the van abandoned and still running behind buildings on the G.L. Wiley campus on East Live Oak.

It was taken to a lab where investigators hope to find evidence that will lead them to the robbers.

Police said it appears the two men knew that the victim had a large amount of cash and said they may have followed him from the bank, where he made the withdrawal Friday morning.

Tracy... I guess my point is most of it comes from East Waco... Get a real "profile" on most of these people committing the crimes and maybe you'll figure it out. You want ti invest YOUR money over there? Go right ahead. Let me know how it works out for you :)

Maybe it is time to return to the old days where you have the driver and another riding shotgun. There is one thing you never want to do--you do not want to get on the Chapman's bad side.

Yes let's revitalize East Waco. We have robberies in Waco every day. Just one in Robinson today one last week at a convience store. These incidents are not just isolated to East Waco! Get a clue! So let's not add any more business to waco period since we have robberies and murders in Waco all the time.
