500 Pounds Of Pot Found On Texas School Bus

MARFA (November 21, 2012)--Investigators were trying to determine Wednesday who smuggled nearly 500 pounds of marijuana on board a school bus aboard which a high school basketball team was riding.

The duffel bags of marijuana were discovered Monday night in the bus transporting Van Horn basketball players who were headed home after games in the border city of Presidio, the Border Patrol said.

The bus stopped at a Marfa convenience store so the students could get snacks and when he opened a cargo door he saw the bags.

Border Patrol spokesman Bill Brooks said Wednesday an agent who happened to be at the store confiscated the marijuana.

Nobody was arrested.

Culberson County-Allamoore Independent School District officials could not immediately be reached because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
