MONTE ALTO (July 8, 2009)--Authorities say they believe a South Texas man drowned after a swarm of bees forced him into a canal.

Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino says Emiterio Garcia, 51, was fishing with a friend, Roberto Galvan, 43, Tuesday night when the bees attacked.

Galvan was able to reach the shelter of the vehicle of a passing motorist, but Garcia either jumped or fell into the canal.

The Monitor of McAllen reported in its online edition that an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday to determine whether Garcia died from bee stings or drowning.

The World can not survive with out bees(pollenation), our natural bees have been accidently crossed with the Africanized(so called killer bees) bees which are the agressive ones. I'm very sorry for this man's death. But 'most' of our natural bees have been accidentally killed off. So people need to study your Middle School Science, and understand about good/bad bees. We can 'not' just kill all of them off!!!

I agree, destroy em.... BUT good luck with that ever happening.... too many tree huggers around that would go nuts over that, even though it's the africanized bees that need to go, not the honey bees.
