Teenage Texas Counselor Hacks Opossum To Death
Some parents are upset after learning their children watched as a teenage counselor at a Texas summer day camp hacked an opossum to death with an ax.

DALLAS (July 9, 2009)--City officials in the Dallas suburb of Mesquite say a teenage camp counselor hacked an opossum to death with an ax, and said the animal's young were also killed.
No animal cruelty charges have been filed in the incident, which occurred last week at a summer day camp.
Some parents are upset over what their children witnessed, and city officials are investigating what happened, The Dallas Morning News reported.
"I think there was some fear, some anger and just not sure how to treat a wild animal," said Mark Hindman, assistant city manager.
After the marsupial was found in a garbage can, the counselor took an ax from a camp office, chased it and killed.
The babies then emerged, possibly from the mother's pouch.
They also were killed, though the young campers were unsure how, Hindman said.

Well, I can only say, this is all too funny and for sure you folks MUST BE CHRISTIANS. Self righteous as you are, YOU can justify killing, skinning, and running over creatures God has made in front of whoever happens to be with you BECAUSE YOU ARE YOU. The kid runs into an office to get an ax. He is in charge of very young children. No adult was concerned? These kids are so lucky this freak of a 15 year old didn't hit them with the ax while in his deranged killing spree! Very lucky. Obviously this kid was panicked for some stupid reason. Just move the kids away from the trash can that has the possum inside! A five year old could figure that out! Yes-the kid needs to be charged with animal cruelty. Possums are slow. A single wack would of taken care of Mommy, (if she somehow got into the 15 year old's crystal meth and became a bionic super duper scary flying possum.) But to destroy an animal is a deliberate prolonged and cruel way is animal cruelty. But-as I said. My big concern here is that a panicked freaked out 15 year old went into an office, retrieved an ax, whacked it around a bunch of children, and the City of Mesquite isn't concerned. Scary. Take your kids out of that camp!
You folks need to get a life, we have women aborting babies, murderers, child molesters, drunk drivers, drug addicts etc. etc. and you are worried about the death of a marsupial!
