Former Central Texas TV Reporter Dies Unexpectedly
A veteran Texas television news reporter who once worked in Waco has died unexpectedly.

DALLAS (July 13, 2009)--North Texas television reporter Brett Johnson, known for his folksy style, has died unexpectedly at 48.

Johnson once worked for Waco ABC affiliate KXXV, Channel 25.

Dallas-Fort Worth television station KXAS reported that Johnson died Sunday at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth where he was admitted after complaining of stomach pain.

His family says he was diagnosed with pancreatitis, which led to other complications.

Johnson was a reporter at KXAS for 13 years.

He joined KXAS after working several years at Dallas-Fort Worth television station KDFW.

He previously worked in Waco, Wichita Falls and Oklahoma City.

He graduated from Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth and Stephen F. Austin University.

He lived in Fort Worth.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth at 800 W. 5th St.

I don't blame him for getting away from KXXV, but I'm sorry for his untimely death.
