NOLANVILLE (July 13, 2009)—The Nolanville City Council voted Monday morning to cut six jobs, including three patrol officer positions, in order to keep the community afloat, but Nolanville’s accountant told council members more cuts will need to be made in order to continue paying the bills.

Expenses have exceeded income for some time now, officials said.

Eliminating the positions, which also include a court clerk a Police Department secretary and a public works secretary, will save Nolanville about $76,000, officials said Monday.

Hollie Costello, whose job was one of the six the council cut, said residents may feel the impact.

"I handle sex offenders, I registered them and keep track. Who’s going to do that now? Costello said.

OK, I just read the newspaper article...that is the biggest bag of bolony I have ever heard. The mayor and city council need to step up to the plate and take responsibility for the debt. It's not the citizens fault and we will be the ones to pay. Alcohol sales??? I agree would create revenue, but who wants to establish business in a city that can't take care of itself? I agree, there are some folks on the council that have heart, but the others and the mayor, well, they are ruthless and usually have their own agenda, which is cutthroat politics and backstabbing. Mayor, you should be ashamed, no one wants to hear your pathetic excuses any longer..you were definitely the WRONG choice to lead this city. Why don't you and your posse, pack up and head out, we need folks that have heart and actually care about the citizens and city. I have seen you in action, and you are not a leader. By the way, if you get paid for your position, you should be cut!!

I agree with just about everything said here but don't blame all the city council, there are some people up there trying to fix things but the good ole boy system is still in place. They waited for one of the city council members to be out of town before the mayor had this meeting, knowing full well they were going to be out of town. She did that on purpose because she knew she would loose the vote! Sign a petition and get that women out of there so that she can't back stab the people of Nolanville anymore!

I just watched the clip from the mayor's interview..I cannot even look at her. Are the city council and mayor paid for their positions? If so, cut them too!!! I would rather relieve them than other positions. I say, scrap them all off the board and let's start over with folks that have never been on the council or run for mayor!!
