ROBERTSON COUNTY (July 16, 2009)—At least two major wildfires including one that’s threatening a chicken-raising operation were keeping firefighters busy Thursday afternoon in Robertson County.

All emergency crews have been called in to help fight the fires, KBTX-TV reported, and the Texas Forest Service is providing support from the air.

The biggest of the fries is burning at the chicken farm 4 to 5 miles West of Franklin on FM 1644.

Witnesses said that fire produced a single plume of smoke resembling a small mushroom cloud.

The Texas Forest Service says about 80 acres have been burned and the fire is 50% contained.

At least two mobile homes have caught on fire, as well.

There were reports of a second fire burning near the railroad tracks near Bremond in the northern part of the county.
