AUSTIN (July 16, 2009)—Texas Gov. Rick Perry issued a disaster proclamation Thursday because of the extreme wildfire danger that includes Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Lampasas, Leon, Limestone, McLennan, Milam, Navarro, Robertson and Williamson Counties in Central Texas.

The proclamation clears the way for the sate to activate firefighting resources and suspends rules that could slow the state’s response to the threat.

The proclamation also allows the state to seek federal assistance.

“As continued drought conditions have made the threat of wildfires a reality, the state is assisting in battling these fires, and we will continue to provide the necessary resources to protect our communities,” Perry said.

Since June 25, fires have charged more than 10,000 acres and threatened nearly 150 homes across the state.

I think that Guv. Perry wakes up in a different world every day!! Lake Travis and Lake Belton are going dry.Luckily for Waco our Lake is still almost full(if you/I can stand to drink it). What little rain has been very widely scatterred. things are drying up and burning up!! And Temple gal, I'm sorry to say I don't think Perry will water or feed any livestock you might have. And Again, everybody, everywhere better stop wasting our/your drinking water Period. Forget your yard and car/pick-up. Conserve. It may get serious enough that you don't have enough water to brush your teeth or wash behind your ears!!

Does this declaration help us to seek assistance when the stock tank dries up and the hay is gone?
