HOUSTON (July 23, 2009)--Eight people were wounded at a drive-by shooting during a community rally on the Texas Southern University campus, not six as initially reported, Houston police said Thursday.
Houston police spokesman Kese Smith said the shooting victims range in age from 14 to 21.
They were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries after the Wednesday night shooting.
Smith said investigators are looking for several suspects but have no motive for the shooting.
The gunfire broke out around 8:30 p.m., just as the event billed as a "family block party" was ending.
The rally featured appearances by Houston rapper Trae the Truth, Houston City Council member Peter Brown and U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee.
Texas Southern is a historically black university in Houston with an enrollment of around 10,000 students.

haha yall are funny...everything turns so racial!!! i will soon be attending TSU && this doesnt frighten me away for the simple fact, this can happen anywhere....come on now??? dont be so purblind people.
Come on Peter laugh but don't hate. I have seen some pretty catchy names on these postings. I don't waste my time by trying to run away from racism because it's everywhere. Still, I will move when I get ready to. Someone Near-Here. I did say that. Twice. The racial comments just wire me up. Even if they are of the subliminal type. I wish everybody would see that all kinds of people do wrong.
