(January 11, 2007)—The Rev. R. Albert Mohler, Jr. president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, has been released from Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

The 47-year-old Baptist leader was hospitalized Dec. 27 after experiencing abdominal pain and had surgery to remove scar tissue from a 1980s operation.

He was admitted last week to the intensive care unit to treat blood clots that developed in his lungs after the surgery, and then moved back into a private room on Monday.

The seminary says Mohler is looking forward to resuming his duties, but will need time to recuperate at home.

He's been the seminary's president for 14 years.

He also hosts a radio program carried by about 60 stations across the country that focuses on moral, political and cultural issues.
