FORT WORTH (July 26, 2009)--Support is pouring in for an airman from Texas who is struggling to survive after he lost parts of both legs after a routine gallbladder surgery that went terribly wrong.

Airman 1st Class Colton Read, 20, of Arlington, is fighting for life after his aorta was nicked or punctured during surgery at Travis Air Force Base in California.

He was flown to the University of California Davis Medical Center and has endured at least 11 surgeries to save what's left of his legs.

A 12th surgery was scheduled Friday.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that people from all over the country have left comments on a Web site and blog.

His family operates the Web site to keep people updated on Read’s progress.

My prayers go out to this man and family. I have seen first hand the medical treatment our fine military receive, how sad this is how it is, I watched the VA beat my father in law to death. I could not do any thing keep getting thrown out. how sad they fight for our freedom and are treated this way.

When I had my gall bladder removed they went in thru my belly button and two other holes in my abdomen. I don't understand how or why his aorta was knicked or how he lost both his legs due to a "routine" gall bladder removal?

My prayers will be for that young man and is family. Now its time for everyone to wake up! If Obama gets his health care passed this will be the kind of medical treatment we will all get!
