AMARILLO (July 29, 2009)—Investigators were looking Wednesday for the cause of a fire at a water park in Amarillo that destroyed parts of a building and forced the evacuation of swimsuit-wearing patrons.
Splash Amarillo president Paul Johnson said he did not expect the entertainment complex to be open Wednesday.
No injuries were reported in Tuesday afternoon's fire.
No damage estimate was immediately available.
Johnson said the fire may have started in a mechanical room near the restrooms.
The water park features slides, a wave pool, an arcade, volleyball courts and a refreshment area.
