Texas Animal Shelter Gets Custody Of 15 Seized Horses

ABILENE (July 29, 2009)--The owner of 15 horses will not be allowed to recover the rescued animals that were removed from her Abilene property this month.

A judge decided that Lisa Ezell does not have adequate resources to care for the horses.

The horses, which were seized July 18, will be placed with the Abilene animal shelter and made available for adoption.

Judge Ronnie Doan also ruled Tuesday that Ezell must pay the city nearly $2,300 for the cost and care of the horses during the 10 days after their seizure.

Ezell has said she rescues horses and recently acquired the animals when they were in poor condition.

An animal control officer visited the property July 16.

The horses were seized two days later.
