(August 2, 2008) - Agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command made an arrest in the attempted kidnapping of a 2-day old infant from Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center on Tuesday.

Fort Hood officials say a woman dressed in scrubs was caught on a surveillance camera trying to take a male infant from the maternity ward at the hospital.

An infant abduction warning alarm went off, according to Fort Hood officials, causing the hospital to lock down and all exits were blocked.

According to a Fort Hood press release, no child was abducted but no details were given on why a suspect wasn't apprehended at the hospital.

The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command says information from callers and the assistance of the Killeen Police Department helped agents make an arrest Friday, but no suspect name was released.

Has anybody responding to this thread even had a child in the last few years, and know how the alarm system works? A RFI tag is attached to the umbilical cord clamp, setting off an alarm if the sensor near the doors of the ward detects the tag. That's how the system works. As far as the time line, we may never know.
