AUSTIN (August 4, 2009)—The Texas Ethics Commission recently levied a fine of $1,500 against Waco state Rep. Jim Dunnam after the state commission discovered campaign funding report errors in Dunnam’s records.

The commission also has reported the fines have been paid.

The commission reported receiving two reports of alleged violations and after investigation determined that Dunnam should be fined.

Each political candidate in Texas is required to submit regular reports to the commission that detail campaign donations and expenditures.

Dunnam is a long-time state office holder and is considered a leader in the state’s Democratic party.

Where is the rest of the story. The Trib reported that the fines were for improperly documented reimbursements to staffers. He did document but needed more detail. There wasn't any underhanded or mis-appropriated funds to anyone which the ethics commission acknowledged. Get the full story before making judgements.

More politics, what did he do misspell a word. Let's see the real ethics violations that go on in Austin. Smells like an attempt to gain points, $1500, could not have been a serious violation.
