SAN ANTONIO (August 06, 2009)-A San Antonio bus driver is accused of sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled female passenger.
Robert Esparza, 49, was a driver for Star Shuttle, a company that contracts with San Antonio's VIA Metropolitan Transit to provide special service for disabled passengers.
The woman told police that Esparza touched her inappropriately after the other bus passengers had disembarked.
Police say Esparza admits to the accusations but argues the encounter was consensual.
Esparza remains in Bexar County jail charged with aggravated sexual assault of a disabled person; his bond was set at $75,000.
A VIA spokeswoman says Esparza's employment has been terminated.
A secretary for his attorney, Daphne Previti of San Antonio, said the lawyer was out of town and unavailable for comment.
