HILLSBORO (August 12, 2009)--Debra Jeter, 32, who’s charged in the murder of one of her daughters and attempted murder of another daughter, was indicted Wednesday for capital murder and attempted capital murder.

The Hill County Grand Jury handed up the indictments late Wednesday morning.

Jeter was arrested on June 5 after a woman who refused to identify herself called 911 and told the operator she had just killed her children.

Hill County deputies, Hillsboro police and state troopers went to an abandoned farm house on U.S. 77 just off Interstate 35 and found Jeter in the garage with her hands raised above the head.

Officers found the 12-year-old Kelsey Jeter dead inside the house and 13-year-old Kirsten Jeter critically injured in a bedroom.

The girls’ throats had been slashed and authorities said it appeared that the older girl had tried to protect her younger sister during the attack, which happened about four hours after their mother picked them up from their father’s home and told them she had a surprise for them.

Pretrial hearings could begin within about a month, the Hill County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday.

It's always fun watching people argue about whether the drugs caused it or not. Has anyone here experienced or seen a drug induced psychotic break? I find it funny that people will take a drug that says, Warning: Do not operate heavy machinery until you know how you react. Yet you believe drugs can't cause hallucinations, mania, psychosis, abnormal/changed behavior. You probably also fell for the whole chemical imbalance theory that was put out by drug companies. You guys probably think the body and mind are separate don't you? Keep up the rants it's great entertainment.

So many of you are quick to say this could never happen this is fake blah blah. Unless you've experienced depression or any of the many anxiety/personality disorders out there you have no idea. My husband is on medication for ptsd and it causes him issues and he is having to switch meds on a regular basis. Oh but if you ask someone like "frustrated" or Charlie I'm sure they think ptsd is made up or fake. You need to stop casting stones. Why else would this woman do this if she weren't mentally unstable? She admitted to cops she did it, and she wasn't trying to hide it or anything. If she was trying to use mental illness and or meds as a cop out what would she gain from doing this to begin with? If she didn't love or want the kids she could simply have given them up to dad 100%. I mean, honestly, why do you think she really did this if she wasn't out of her mind? As a mother I know someone would have to be mentally incompetent to do this. Period.
