AUSTIN (August 12, 2009)--The Roman Catholic Diocese of Austin said Wednesday it received no formal complaints about John Anthony Okonski, 45, of Bremond, who evidently committed suicide after he was arrested and charged in the sexual assault of a teenager who said he was molested early Saturday morning in the restroom of a Waco theater.
Okonski was arrested early Saturday after a 15-year-old boy told a police officer who was working security at the Starplex Galaxy 16 Theater in Waco that he had been attacked in a restroom stall.
He was booked in the McLennan County Jail at 5:41 a.m. Saturday but was later released on a $30,000 bond.
He was found dead Sunday in a field near Kosse of what evidently was a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Okonski, who was not married, and worked at a power plant outside of Bremond, was an active member of St. Mary Parish in Bremond, according to the statement the Austin Diocese issued Wednesday.
“In addition to various liturgical duties, Mr. Okonski occasionally volunteered as a driver for the parish’s youth ministry; however, he is not a youth minister at the parish,” the statement said.
“The Diocese of Austin has not received any formal complaints involving Mr. Okonski,” the statement said.

Although Johnny may or may not have committed this crime, the boy is still alive. Imagine if this incident really did happen. The boy is going through that and if he ever happened to hear the things some of you put on here....he wouldn't need that stress too. As for Johnny, he will be missed by many of you. Pray for his family.
I HAVE LIVED ALL OVER TEXAS AND NEVER BEEN SUBJECTED TO THE STUPIDITY THAT I HAVE ENCOUNTERED IN THIS TOWN. EVERY WHERE I GO HERE SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE OR TELLING LIES ABOUT SOME ONE. JOHNNY WOULD PROBABLY STILL BE ALIVE IF BREMOND WOULD HAVE SHUT THEIR MOUTHS...WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE TO JUDGE SOMEONE ELSE...I WOULD THINK YOU NEED TO LOOK AT YOURSELF FIRST. TRY WALKING IN HIS OR HIS MOMS SHOES. WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND...WHAT HAPPENED TO INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY...ALL OF YOU HAVE HIS BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS.
Thanks looking in. Someone finally gets it. One thing I would like to add is that he was his own worst critic. He comdemed himself. None of us who knew ever condemed him.
